A Warning About Popcorn

For those of you who have never decorated your Christmas tree with popcorn strands, I have something to say...DON'T DO IT!!!
We decided to buy a small table top Christmas tree this year for two reasons: First, our 9 month old is crawling around and getting into everything possible, as it should be...and we felt a large tree on the ground could be bad. Secondly, I just didn't feel like struggling with the 9 foot monster tree and the lights and the ornaments, blah, blah, blah. (Just call me Scrooge.)
I felt bad about having such a small tree that I thought it would be fun to string it with popcorn and have my 4 year old do it with me. Not wise. Popcorn doesn't actually want to be strung on fishing line, nor does it want to have a needle piercing it. Also, with the needle and popcorn at war like they were, not a good activity for a 4 year old, or for anyone who likes their fingers...or for their blood to stay inside their body.
Do you know how many popcorn kernals you have to string to decorate a 4 foot tree? Ask me tomorrow. I hope to have the project completed by then.
The only entertaining part of the entire experience has been having my carb-crazed daughter help me pick out the biggest kernals to go on the tree, and watching her eat all the rejects. According to her, there were a LOT of rejects. That was pretty funny.

Wussy. We have been decorating our tree for the last 4 years with popcorn strands. Its good times. As an expert, here are a couple tips:
    -Use thread, not fishing line,
-Alternate popcorn and fresh cranberries, much easier.
-Pop the corn the night before, let it sit out overnight. Stale popcorn is much easier to string.
No more bloody fingers, and maybe Jenna won't eat all the popcorn if its stale. :)

You guys are just the cutest! I admire your effort Kristina. I taped a picture of a Christmas tree to my TV. That is how pathetic I am.
