Slow times round 2

I figured out tonight at 5pm that I need an oven thermometer. I thought to myself there is no way I'm facing the walmart the day before thanksgiving. I will just hit up the local supermarket and hope its not out of control. I told my brother in-law he was coming with me because so I would have a person to talk to when standing in line. Once again shocked! We got a parking spot right up front, found our thermometer, and walked towards the check out. A cashier meet me at the end of the isle and said I can check you out if you are ready. Are you kidding me...where are all of the people? The store had more employees then customers the night before thanksgiving at 6pm. I don't care what people say our economy is a disaster. Was it just me or did anybody else come across these same experiences of way slower than expected stores?
