Missed the accident, but was damaged.

Today on our drive home from California we had to quickly slow down because of a 3 car accident on the side of the road. There was plastic and junk all in the road. Everybody was out of there cars and safe but there was no emergency vehicles on the scene yet. The accident had to be just minutes old. Shortly after the accident we decided to stop at In and Out. After eating, we went to pull out of the parking spot and we discovered that we had a flat tire. When I was trying to get the spare tire out from underneath the van I noticed my back tires where in need of some help also. They where holding air but with no spare left I need to get some new tires. So after changing from a flat tire with no air to a spare tire with a little air, we hobbled over to a gas station to put some air in the spare. This is when we started making phone calls to find a discount tire. Luck us it was 3 miles away and they where not busy. We had an unfortunate situation but it could of been a lot worse. From the time we stopped to eat to the time we where back on the road it was only 2 hours. I think I have waited that long just to get new tires before. I checked something off of the to do list and still made it home in ok time.

You made really good time for stopping to get new tires. Not to mention a smart move... nothing quite a crappy as a blow-out. Glad you made it home safely.

It could have been a lot worse! We could have been stranded...out in the desert...with no water...near a prison!!!

In my husband's defense, we did do all of those things. I took the van in for an oil change, then he changed the air filter, transmission fluid and antifreeze. Our car hasn't had that much TLC in a while! He checked the tire pressure, which was low...just not the tread. And the tire that was punctured was actually a very new tire and the tread looked great. It just made us look at all four tires and we realized how bad the rear tires were.
